I've installed it on my new computer, then when I double click any of the CS5.5 apps I get the Trial window appearing asking for a serial number. When I enter the serial number from the original CS5 it says it's not valid for this installation. I get the option to continue to use as a trial, but haven't clicked START TRIAL yet, I've just closed the window.It's getting late here so I'll try your link for adobe support and request an activation count reset tomorrow.Thanks for your help so far, I'll keep you posted.
Assuming you're using a valid adobe serial number (6 groups of 4 numbers), you have a mismatch between your installation file and serial number. Ie, you can have a valid serial number, but if it's for program A and your installation file is for program B, you will see an invalid serial number message.common mismatches are language/region (eg, serial number is for western europe and installation file is eastern europe), platform (eg, serial number is for a mac and installation file is win), license type (eg, education vs enterprise vs individual).and one of the most common is using a program installation file with a suite's serial number.
Eg, using a cs6 suite serial number with a photoshop cs6 installation file. That won't work even though photoshop is included in that suite. You must use the (correct) suite's installation file (and you can choose to only install one program from the suite).here's official info about that error. It's definitely a valid adobe serial number.My new computer does have photoshop cc 2017 installed already on it (was on there when I go it), so perhaps that's where the conflict lies? Could it be that my new computer is trying to use the cc installation file for my cs5.5 suite? Given that my cs5.5 installed no problem until I logged into my adobe account online, and I had no problem installing cs5.5 on my old computer only late last year, with no other versions of any adobe software on it beforehand.If there's a conflict I'm guessing I'll need to uninstall the CC 2017 version of photoshop?
